My name is Barbara Aguilar, and I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner. My background as a psychiatric nurse for over 23 years includes substance abuse, depression, adolescent psychiatry, schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, geriatrics, and general adult psychiatry. I am a huge advocate for mental health, and throughout my career has been my passion. I have also served as a clinical instructor for Auburn University for several years. I have been published by the American Psychiatric Nursing Association. Awards include Sensory Reduction project at University of Alabama at Birmingham, presentations for American Psychiatric Nursing Association, Vizient Clinical Connections Summit Presentations, Presentation Poster for Magnet Conference in Orlando Florida. Our mental health is at the center of our wellness. It is our outmost priority. My goal is to educate and promote optimal wellbeing. I believe that the journey to great mental health is a multifaceted journey that requires great communication between provider and patient. Graduated from Samford University with my associate in nursing, the University of Alabama with my bachelor’s in nursing, Master of Nursing Education from Grand Canyon University, and Post Masters of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner School from Herzing University. Kayla Bevels

Kayla Bevels is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who completed her psychiatric certificate program in 2021 at the University of Alabama. She completed her master’s degree at the University of Alabama in 2020 and is also a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Since graduating with her BSN in 2016 from Jacksonville State University, her main concentration has been in psychiatry, but she also carries pediatric med/surg experience. Kayla has many years of psychiatric experience which began with geriatric psych patients as a tech while pursuing her BSN. Since then, she has worked with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as a nurse in multiple states and facilities. Kayla sees patients in the inpatient setting at Brookwood Medical Center along with outpatient clinic at the Pelham location and will be seeing patients in the future at Cahaba Mental Health Center in Selma, AL. Kayla has experience in treating ADHD, ODD, ASD, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder. She is specifically passionate about the child/adolescent population and recognizes the importance of early intervention for optimal outcomes in adulthood. Kayla and her husband enjoy traveling in their free time and watching Alabama football.

Vedavyasa Biliyar

Dr. Biliyar is a board-certified psychiatrist practicing in the Nashville area over the last 30 years. He has his medical degree from Bellary, India, and completed a residency in Cherokee, IA, and child fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He specializes in children and adolescents, and families and has combined psychotherapy, parent training, and medication management of complex hospitalized patients as well as day-to-day emotional, behavioral, and parenting problems. He is currently directing an adolescent inpatient program, and in charge of training residents as a core faculty in the Tristar psychiatry residency program. He is familiar to the Nashville Indian community as ex-chairman of the board of trustees at Sri Ganesha temple of Nashville and ex-president of India Association of Nashville. He has been involved in religious education and promoting mental health awareness through his stress management workshops and lectures on suicide prevention.

April Brasher

April Brasher is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who completed her psychiatric certificate program in May of 2024 at the University of Alabama. She completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health with a concentration in Nursing Education from Jacksonville State University in 2021. In addition, she completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville State University in 2012. She has always had a passion for working in psychiatry, especially seeing this population during her 10+ years as an ER nurse. She has experience in treating ADHD, ODD, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar, and schizoaffective disorders. While she sees populations across the lifespan, her concentration is in the pediatric/adolescent population. Prior to becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, she worked as an emergency room tech and nurse for over 15 years. While she gained experience in working with this population, it wasn’t until her work as a forensic examiner working at a non-profit women’s shelter where she truly saw the gap between trauma, abuse, and mental health services. She pursued her MSN during her non-profit work and implemented a shelter health clinic as a primary prevention intervention to help eliminate negative health consequences of trauma but gained early access to mental health treatment to reduce risk of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicidality. In 2019, she became a board-certified sexual assault examiner (SANE) and was an integral part of opening the first SANE clinic in Shelby County. She was the recipient of the 2020 Shelby County Healthcare Professional of the Year for her work as a SANE with the expansion into offering domestic violence and strangulation forensic exams, making her program the second in the state to offer this at the time. During her time here, she was able to train over 3,000 law enforcement, judicial officials, state officials, students, and others on trauma informed practice in responding to individuals impacted by violence. Caitlin Brown

Caitlin Brown is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. After serving four years in the United States Marine Corps, she obtained her AS in Psychology from Pensacola State College. Caitlin then went on to obtain her BSN from the University of South Alabama 2016, and MSN from the University of North Alabama in 2025. She has worked in various settings throughout her career but has always been drawn to serve and advocate for those with mental health needs. Caitlin believes we are human first and approaches each client with respect and as an individual with unique needs and life experiences. Caitlin is available to help individuals across the lifespan for various conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, and schizophrenia. Caitlin also has a deep understanding for those suffering from substance use disorders and under-stands the complexities behind co-occurring mental health disorders and addiction. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys spending time in nature, exercising, listening to music, and hanging out with her pets, family, and friends, especially over a good meal.

Donald Cornelius

Dr. Cornelius graduated the University of Alabama School of Medicine and University of Alabama Hospitals and Clinics Psychiatry Residency. His areas of interest and expertise are Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry, Addicted Health Care Professionals, Medication Management in Adult Inpatient and Extended Care Treatment and Recovery Programs, International experience in the field of Alcohol and Drug Treatment, including developing, implementing, and monitoring a variety of adult inpatient and partial hospitalization alcohol and drug programs, Treatment of Dual Diagnoses, Chronic Pain and Addiction. Since graduating University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. Cornelius has worked across Alabama and Georgia as a Clinical Director, Medical Director, and Head of Psychiatry at Woodridge Hospital in Georgia, and for more than 25 years as a Consult Psychiatrist and Addiction Psychiatrist at Bradford Health in Warrior Alabama. Anna Davis

Anna Davis is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing patient-centered, evidence-based mental health care across the lifespan. She began her nursing career after graduating from Pensacola State College in 2014, later earning her BSN from the University of Alabama in 2018 and her MSN with a concentration in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practice in 2025. She earned her certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). With clinical experience in multiple hospital settings, she spent the majority of her career in the emergency department where she developed a deep understanding of individuals facing mental health needs, especially after the 2020 pandemic. Jesica completed an undergraduate degree at Jacksonville State, and then later went on to pursue a master’s degree at the University of Alabama. She has built a solid foundation in nursing, with 10 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse (RN) and over 8 years as a Nurse Practitioner. Jessica has accumulated valuable hands-on experience that continues to contribute to her expertise in providing high-quality care. Jessica is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner in both psychiatric mental health and family healthcare. She provides comprehensive care for a broad range, from adults as young as 18 to the elderly. She is skilled in managing mental health issues across various stages of life, adapting care to the unique needs of each age group. Jessica provides inpatient care at Gadsden Regional Medical Center where she serves as a provider to the geriatric psychiatry unit. Jessica also sees adult and geriatric patients in the outpatient setting at the Gadsden office with Ally Psychiatry. When Jessica is not caring for patients, she enjoys time on the Lake with her husband and two children. She enjoys Alabama Football, traveling, and camping.

Ms. Heidi Dorsey

I am originally from Maryland; I moved to South Carolina in January 2025. I started working in a correctional setting as a LPN in 2010; received my RN license in 2011 and went to work at a state forensic psychiatric hospital where I transitioned from RN to RN charge nurse and eventually RN manager. I went back to school in 2020 to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner, eventually graduating in 2023. I worked for a mobile treatment team that goes in the community due to the patients not having transportation or they have trouble setting and keeping appointments. I am currently working at the inpatient unit at MUSC in Lancaster.

Dr. Ashley Dumas

Dr. Dumas was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. She attended the University of Alabama for college, where she obtained a degree in Psychology. She then pursued her medical education at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, AL. She stayed on at the University of South Alabama for her residency in General Psychiatry as well as the first half of her fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She completed her Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. After graduating, she joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for the next two years, teaching both General Psychiatry residents and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellows in the outpatient child psychiatry clinic setting and as part of the Psychiatry consults team for Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She joined the staff of Alabama Psychiatry in October 2019. She provides services through both the Pelham clinic (in-person) and the Montgomery clinic (telemedicine) for patients ages 3 – 18 years old. She is available Monday through Thursday for appointments. Her professional interests include treating Autism Spectrum Disorders, anxiety disorders, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking (and, more importantly, eating what she bakes), reading, and binge-watching television. Mr. Joshua Eslami

Josh Eslami is a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. Josh is a graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He first obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology in 2007 and then went on to receive his Masters of Science in Nursing in 2013. He has extensive experience providing nursing services for patients in the in a patient psychiatric setting for both adult and geriatric populations. Josh joined Alabama Psychiatry in 2013. He currently manages care for patients seeking care at an outpatient clinic as well as in community mental health residential day programs. Josh is committed to providing psychiatric care to under-served populations, including providing access to telemedicine services.

Amin Gilani

Dr.Amin Gilani is a double Board certified Psychiatrist, with specialization in Child and Adolescent. He serves as a Captain in the US Army and is the Medical Director of Child and Adolescent psychiatry at Alabama Psychiatry. Dr. Gilani has primarily served his patients at Brookwood inpatient unit and sees patients as outpatient at the Pelham and Sylacauga office. He earned his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical School in India and his residency was completed at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He furthered his education by completing a fellowship in Psychoanalysis at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Education affiliated with NYU School of Medicine in New York, New York and post-doctoral/fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Gilani also devotes his time to serve as honorary Mental Health lead for the South East US Ismaili community. Dr. Paulo Sales is a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive experience in managing psychiatric issues related to complex medical conditions. Brianna joins our outpatient team at our Charleston, SC clinic. Brianna is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has a passion for partnering with clients to create lives they truly love living. She earned her Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Temple University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Psychology from the University of Tennessee. Brianna has received advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), along with specialized training in suicide risk assessment, complex trauma, and perinatal mental health. Brianna has experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient, private practice, and research settings. She helps individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, difficulties with interpersonal relationships, and challenges with emotion regulation. Her approach is trauma-informed, relational, collaborative, and skills-focused, helping clients build resilience, strengthen coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change. James Hensel

Mr. Hensel has experience working with clients living with mental health concerns including, but not limited to, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, insomnia, schizophrenia, and other trauma-related issues that are in crisis, residential living, and outpatient services throughout central and southern Alabama. Mr. Hensel has worked in several emergency departments as a registered nurse, including a psychiatric emergency department, which fueled his passion for psychiatric care. Mr. Hensel is a Navy veteran and retired Army officer. In addition to being a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Mr. Hensel is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Mr. Hensel is a Certified Emergency Nurse. Mr. Hensel is an active member of the Alabama State Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association. William Hutchinson

Chaise joins our Bowling Green outpatient clinic. Chaise is a Licensed Clinical So-cial Work (LCSW). Chaise received my Bachelor of Social Work from WKU in 2021, and his Master of Social Work from Denver University in 2023. He enjoys working with clients navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. His approach is relational, and attachment-based. Chaise believes many emotional struggles make sense in the context of a person’s experiences, and he strives to understand symptoms as meaningful responses rather than per-sonal flaws. Chaise is originally from Kentucky, and currently lives with his partner and her three kids. Chaise is an avid music fan and musician, who has been playing guitar for 25+ years. He also likes to paint and color, and am an all-around creative kind of person, which he finds fits quite nicely in this line of work!

Munazzah Khawaja

Dr. Munazzah Khawaja joins our Alabama outpatient team. Dr. Khawaja is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with more than 20 years of clinical experience providing comprehensive psychiatric care across outpatient, inpatient, forensic, and correctional settings in the United States and the United Kingdom. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of complex mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, and co-occurring psychiatric and medical illnesses. Dr. Khawaja is known for her thoughtful, evidence-based approach, careful risk assessment, and ability to manage high-acuity presentations with clarity and compassion. Throughout her career, Dr. Khawaja has worked in diverse clinical environments, including private practice, hospital-based services, crisis units, and correctional facilities. This breadth of experience informs a practical, grounded treatment style that prioritizes safety, collaboration, and individualized care. Dr. Khawaja is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry and holds subspecialty certification in Forensic Psychiatry. She completed her residency training in adult psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch and has additional fellowship training in forensic psychiatry through Harvard Medical School’s Program in Psychiatry and the Law.

Dwight King

Dr. King is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who holds dual medical licenses in Tennessee and the District of Columbia. He graduated from American University of the Caribbean and completed dual residencies in neurology and psychiatry at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and Howard University Hospital, Washington, DC. After completion of his residencies, Dr. King became board certified by the American Academy of Neurology and Psychiatry in 2001. Jared Knighting is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Dr. Prasad Kondapavuluru

Robert Korman

I am a General Psychiatrist with over 30 years of clinical experience of direct patient care. I have a special interest in treating individuals with Mood Disorders, Anxiety, PTSD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders, Substance Use Disorders and other Mental Health Conditions. The early part of my career I worked as a hospital-based psychiatrist seeing patients who were admitted to the hospital psychiatric unit, partial hospital program or intensive out-patient program. I also saw patients as a psychiatric consultant for Emergency Room and Medically admitted patients. More recently I practiced in Maryland employed by a small private out-patient with a focus on substance use disorders and General psychiatry. Katie Manuel is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Dr. John Marigliano

Dr. John Marigliano is excited to join our Charleston team as a child/adolescent psychiatrist. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in environmental engineering. After obtaining his masters degree in biomedical engineering from Clemson University, he decided to pursue a career in medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed his general psychiatry residency at Wake Forest University before eventually completing his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Prisma Hospital Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, skiing, cooking, long-distance running, sailing, and spending time with his loved ones.

Jonathan McCollum

Jonathan McCollum is a licensed clinical social worker licensed in Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas who was born and raised in Arlington, TX in between the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Following his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harding University in 2005, he began his work in the mental health field working in residential treatment facilities, day treatment programs, and community/in-home services with children, adolescents, and families. In 2009, while pursuing his master’s degree he interned at a state psychiatric hospital, a medical facility’s behavioral health unit, and an intensive outpatient program over the course of 2 years. Upon completion of his master’s degree in social work from East Carolina University in 2011, he worked for Wayne UNC hospital in Goldsboro, NC serving at the hospital’s inpatient behavioral unit and intensive outpatient program. In this role, he coordinated and facilitated group therapy, individual therapy, coordination of resources, and discharge planning. In 2014 he worked for Peninsula Behavioral Health, a division of Parkwest Medical Center as an outpatient clinician working in community mental health in the Knoxville, TN area for over 7 years with patients of all ages, both with individual and group therapy. He has been involved in private practice since 2018, as well as working with a remote company serving the mental health needs of college students since 2021. Erica Montgomery

Erica Montgomery is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who graduated in August of 2021 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. Prior to obtaining her MSN, Erica earned her Associates of Science in Nursing (RN) from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in 2012 followed by her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Psychology from Troy University in 2018. Erica dedicated five years to working as a Registered Nurse (RN) in acute-care inpatient psychiatric facilities that serve individuals across the lifespan before she decided to further her education. Erica joined Alabama Psychiatry in 2021 with the intentions of providing mental health services in both the in-and out-patient settings. I am a board-certified Physician Assistant in psychiatry working in Charleston, SC within the Trident Health System. I graduated from Medical University of South Carolina in August 2024. I have lived in South Carolina for almost 8 years, but I am originally from Florida. Through prior healthcare experience in family medicine as a clinical assistant and emergency medicine as an EMT, I developed my passion for helping patients in the medical setting. I have always been drawn to the mental health field. I find it interesting to learn about the way we think, feel, and cope with life’s stressors and traumas. I enjoy the aspect of closely listening to patients and unpacking their stories. Elizabeth Posey is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a focus in Clinical Mental Health. She completed her graduate and undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her BA in 2004 in Elementary Education. During her time as an Educator, she obtained her MA in Clinical Mental Health graduating in 2017. Since completion of graduate school, Elizabeth has work as a Therapist within various genres of care and environments including the Bureau of Prisons and Department of Corrections, Private Practice/Outpatient Care for Mental Health, Outpatient Treatment for Addiction and Substance Use, Residential Treatment for Eating Disorders, and in the hospital setting for Organ Donation. She has recently joined River Region Psychiatry Associates as a Clinical Mental Health Therapist.

Molly Robertson, LICSW PIP, received her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama and has been practicing for over 25 years. Molly sees children, adolescents, and adults and has experience in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and aging issues. She uses and integrative approach drawing on methodologies most suited to the individual’s needs and goals. She is also empathetic and affirming which she believes is an integral part in the therapeutic process. Susan joins our outpatient team at our Pelham, AL clinic. Susan has been a Li-censed Independent Clinical Social worker for over 20 years. She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Alabama and Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has over 20 years’ experience providing adoption and foster care services to children, youth, and families. She specializes in grief and loss, trauma, foster and adoption issues, and completed specialized training as an Adoption Competent Mental Health Practitioner. In her time outside the office, Susan enjoys gardening, crocheting, and spending quality time with her family at the beach.

Dr. Rachel Smith

Rachel Grace Smith is a licensed psychologist with her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and her doctorate from Mercer University. At Mercer, her dissertation focused on analyzing trauma diagnostic criteria and interventions to enhance multicultural flexibility. Dr. Smith completed her internship with Burrell Behavioral Health in Springfield, Missouri. During her time in Springfield, she gained invaluable experience with intensive outpatient eating disorder populations, in addition to milieu and art therapies to youths in residential settings, helping them navigate complex emotional and behavioral challenges. There, she provided neurocognitive assessment, brief therapy and consultation within various clinics, and the LEAH Program’s diagnostic clinic. Her two years in this setting offered experiences with a variety of populations, including substance use, HIV, eating disorders, ADHD, general health, and trauma focused adolescents. Residing in Birmingham, Alabama, she enjoys a vibrant life with her husband and two cats, Toothless and Remy. An avid movie enthusiast, video game player, reader, and artist, she is always seeking her next big project and forever cheers for her beloved Georgia Dawgs. Dr. Smith also looks forward to her annual trek to DragonCon in Atlanta, Georgia, where she celebrates her passions with fellow enthusiasts and showcases her cosplay creations.

Victoria Smith is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 2016 from Jacksonville State University and continued her education to receive a Master’s Degree in Nursing in 2021 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Victoria has many years of psychiatric experience which began when she was working as a tech in nursing school. Since then, she has worked with adult and geriatric patients as a nurse. Victoria joined Alabama Psychiatry in December 2021. She currently works on the inpatient units at Gadsden Regional Medical Center and will be soon seeing patients at the outpatient clinic in Attalla. When Victoria is not caring for patients, she can be found spending time with her husband and their son. She enjoys cooking and traveling.

Merry Snider

Merry Anna Snider is a dually board-certified family/psychiatric nurse practitioner. She has been working at Ally Psychiatry’s Jackson, TN outpatient clinic since October 2022. She has also served the needs of the patients at Pinewood Springs Hospital in Columbia, TN since February 2024. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2014 at the University of Memphis and went on to complete her dual doctoral degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2019. Dr. Snider was born and raised in Jackson, TN. She currently lives in Jackson with her husband and two sons. She is extremely passionate about mental healthcare and appreciates the opportunity to serve the psychiatric needs of our local communities.

Elli is passionate about psychiatry and feels privileged to support patients through their mental health journeys. I live in Bowling Green, Kentucky and graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Master of Science in Nursing in 2015.
