Brianna Gwathney, LPC
Brianna joins our outpatient team at our Charleston, SC clinic. Brianna is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has a passion for partnering with clients to create lives they truly love living. She earned her Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Temple University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Psychology from the University of Tennessee. Brianna has received advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), along with specialized training in suicide risk assessment, complex trauma, and perinatal mental health. Brianna has experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient, private practice, and research settings. She helps individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, difficulties with interpersonal relationships, and challenges with emotion regulation. Her approach is trauma-informed, relational, collaborative, and skills-focused, helping clients build resilience, strengthen coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change. In her time outside of the office, Brianna enjoys yoga sculpt classes, playing in volleyball tournaments with her husband, long beach walks with her dog, book club gatherings, and painting with oil pastels.

Dr. John Marigliano is excited to join our Charleston team as a child/adolescent psychiatrist. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in environmental engineering. After obtaining his masters degree in biomedical engineering from Clemson University, he decided to pursue a career in medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed his general psychiatry residency at Wake Forest University before eventually completing his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Prisma Hospital Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, skiing, cooking, long-distance running, sailing, and spending time with his loved ones.

I am a board-certified Physician Assistant in psychiatry working in Charleston, SC within the Trident Health System. I graduated from Medical University of South Carolina in August 2024. I have lived in South Carolina for almost 8 years, but I am originally from Florida. Through prior healthcare experience in family medicine as a clinical assistant and emergency medicine as an EMT, I developed my passion for helping patients in the medical setting. I have always been drawn to the mental health field. I find it interesting to learn about the way we think, feel, and cope with life’s stressors and traumas. I enjoy the aspect of closely listening to patients and unpacking their stories. It is so rewarding to be able to work as a team to guide patients to better lives, facilitating their return to the things that make them happy and fulfilled. I’m passionate about improving mental well-being and promoting healthy lifestyle habits that enable us to accomplish our goals in life. I’m looking forward to empowering patients on their journey to recovery! Prior to becoming a PA, I developed my healthcare experience working as an EMT for Prisma Health and Vital Care EMS in Greenville, SC. I also worked as a clinical assistant for Joseph F. Sullivan Center, a family medicine and women’s health clinic within the Clemson University campus. During this time I became familiar with a variety of healthcare settings and developed my patient care skills.
